Upland Resin Craft is based in Rockford, Michigan and all feathers are currently obtained from within the state where I hunt.
One of the best parts about working with organic materials like feathers and wood is that no two pieces are the same. Although I do my best to represent each product as accurately as possible, there may be some variation in color, placement, cut, etc. In my opinion, that's what makes them so cool!
The only bird species I use in my work are non-migratory birds that were personally obtained with a hunting license, including pheasant, grouse and turkey. The sale of migratory bird feathers and most others are prohibited by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918.
All of my feathers are obtained using a hunting license specific to the species and both daily and possession limits are strictly adhered to. I hunt for the connection to the outdoors and the food it provides and the feathers I use would otherwise be waste.
Although I would love to help you commemorate your personal hunts, the answer is currently no. Without being licensed as a taxidermist, it's not possible for me to take in other people's animals or animal parts at this time.
Yes! All of the earring hooks, studs and findings I use are stainless steel.
Resin feather earrings may be cleaned by wiping them with a damp cloth, but submerging in water is not recommended. Chances are they will never need it, but the edge surfaces may be resealed at anytime using food grade oils typically used for cutting boards. I personally use Odie's Oil. Most importantly, keep resin feather earrings away from harsh solvents such as nail polish remover as it can etch or eat away at the surface.
The products I have listed in my store are in stock and immediately available. However as a maker, I try to spend as much of my time making as possible and to do that efficiently I typically ship orders on Monday, Wednesday and Friday of each week. Occasionally when traveling for work, shipping may be delayed a few days, but I do my best to make that very clear on the website.
All sales are intended to be final unless the item was damaged in transit or the wrong item was received. However, if for some reason you are dissatisfied with your purchase, please reach out so I can help you to get what you are looking for and prevent issues with other customers down the road.
